ASSOCIATE POSITIONS

CORPORATE SECURITIES
During the recession of the late 80's and early 90's, firms reduced the number of mid-level associates in the corporate and corporate securities field. Today, with the strong economy, the long term bull market and low interest rates, companies are going public, merging and acquiring other businesses. Firms are desperate for lateral associates with two to six years experience in private placements, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, and general corporate law.
We are presently engaged by several national and local firms to conduct searches for candidates with general corporate and corporate securities background.

REAL ESTATE
When the economy soured in the late 80's and early 90's, firms scaled back their real estate departments redirecting their attorneys into other practice areas. Law firms stopped training new associates in this area and therefore there is a scarcity of well trained junior to mid-level real estate attorneys. Again with the booming economy real estate demand is broad-based, including the lender and developer market, acquisitions, sales, leasing and finance. Law firms are desperate to hire associates with this type of training who can help overworked partners.

COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
The commercial litigation field is in high demand. Most firms are searching for litigators who can handle all phases of a law suit: taking or defending depositions, in court oral argument, incoming and outgoing discovery, research and writing skills . It is also very important that the associate have the ability and desire to bring in business.

TAX/TRUSTS AND ESTATES
The Tax and Trusts and Estates field is very active. With the strong economy and the influx of retiring snowbirds, the tax/trusts and estates fields have steadily grown. Estate planning is a tax-driven discipline which is the reason we often group these areas of law together. Law firms are searching for attorneys with LLM's in taxation or trusts and estates from respected universities. The need for associates with experience in corporate tax and international tax is on the rise. Again, the strong U.S. economy and the expansion into the South and Central American markets have created this need.

There is no question that the estate-planning field is demanding the attention. We believe that there will be a continual expansion into this area of law well into the new millenium. Associates in estate planning should have familiarity with the following areas: Living Trusts; Irrevocable Trusts; Charitable Remainder Trusts; Qualified Personal Residence Trusts; Grantor Trusts; Insurance Trusts; 2503 (c); and Family Limited Partnership Trusts.
