Hertner, Block & Bowser, Inc. (HBBI), was founded in 1984 to service the legal staffing needs for partners, associates and mergers of law firms. We also specialize in placing general counsel and staff counsel for corporations. With the growth of the legal profession over the past few decades, David Block and his staff focused all of their recruiting efforts on legal search, working with premier law firms and corporations in expanding their staffs.
HBBI concentrates its efforts in the state of Florida and has also developed a network of leading search firms in all major cities in the United States. The firm has earned a reputation of handling both clients and candidates on an ethical and confidential basis.

Consultant Profiles
David J. Block, Esq.
Mr. Block is a 1992 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as Vice President of Entertainment and Sports Law Society. He practiced general civil litigation in Florida for several years. He was also a Supervising Attorney for the United States Small Business Administration, delivering agency relief to disaster victims and also worked as an athlete agent representative. Mr. Block has developed a large network of in-house clients and is comfortable in providing advice to clients and candidates as to the economics of the business of law. |
Danielle G. Bowser, Esq.
Ms. Bowser is a 1997 graduate of Duke University School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor of the Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law and a Staff Editor of the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy. She practiced commercial litigation and employment law at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart (n.k.a K & L Gates). She previously specialized in employment law at Steel Hector & Davis (merged into Squire Sanders) and at Baker & McKenzie. She is licensed in Florida, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania . |
Rick Jablonski
Rick Jablonski has been working in the legal field for over 20 years as a Human Resources Director for firms such as Ruden McClosky , Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohen and Akereman Senterfitt. His role as a Director included, hiring, employee relations, benefits, compensation, facilities and managing the everyday operations of the firm regarding all staff, including paralegals and associates. As an HR Director, he established many strong working relationships with people throughout south Florida area over many years. Therefore, when our clients request a certain type of person, Rick is able to network with those past employees and find the best candidate for our clients. |

Herbert H. Hertner
Mr. Hertner has served as adviser and search consultant since 1970 to leading law firms and corporations with U.S. and international operations. He has conducted searches for partners, associates and in-house counsel for all practice disciplines. Mr. Hertner has been an expert witness, involved with acquisition/merger consultations and active in evaluating attorney compensation. He has been quoted in the National Law Journal and The Daily Business Review on numerous occasions.
After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Mr. Hertner served in Vietnam as a Liaison Officer and Combat Helicopter Pilot. He retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He currently serves as a Board Member with The National Association of Legal Search Consultants (NALSC).
